3 Reasons Why John McCain Lost the 2008 Presidential Election

During the American 2008 presidential election, John McCain dramatically lost to Barack Obama. John McCain had a lot of supporters but he just couldn’t influence as many voters compared with Barack Obama. Although John McCain was a good speaker and had a reputable military background, it wasn’t enough to persuade voters.

Here are three reasons why John McCain lost the 2008 presidential election:

1. He didn’t have a better marketing campaign.

Barack Obama was one of the first few politicians to exploit the internet to market his policy. He was proactive with using social networking tools like Twitter, Facebook and MySpace. Furthermore, this enables him to reach many more people in a short time. However, Mr McCain did have a marketing campaign but it wasn’t as good.

2. He was much older than the opposition.

Being older could be a good thing because you experience a lot of things and that makes you become wiser. However, the American public thought otherwise and thought that due to his age, his health was of a concern. If he was elected president, he would become one of the oldest presidents ever.

3. The Republican Party was unpopular during those times.

Former ex-president George W Bush had one of the worst poll ratings ever for a sitting American president. This made the Republican Party unpopular with the swinging voters. Some Republican strategists have suggested that McCain’s association with Bush was the key reason why he lost. He should’ve break from President Bush from the start of the election.

During the Election Senator John McCain Reminded the American People Something

Apparently, The Nobel Peace Prize has been given to our young president, Barack Obama. It is rather interesting that the Nobel Prize Committee would give the award to Barack Obama who’s only been in office less than a year, in other words he hasn’t really done anything yet which would be so overwhelming in the peace process.

Now then, he did give a very good speech in Egypt, and opened his arms to the world of Islam, and yet, he is the commander-in-chief fighting a war in Afghanistan against the Taliban, and Al Qaeda.

Additionally, the Taliban has been coming over the border from Pakistan with lots of weapons to kill US troops, and NATO forces. Our young president has yet to take our army and go after them. If he does, he may be able to rid the world of the Taliban and Al Qaeda, but the Pakistani people will be quite upset, as 60% of them do not approve of the US going over their border, no matter who they are fighting.

This brings us to another point and that is, during the election Senator John McCain reminded the American people that he knows how to win wars. Most people shunned these comments, as they didn’t want any more wars. Nevertheless, here we are in the middle of one and we have a young president who is afraid to make a decision to win the war, for fear that he might do something unpopular.

Now that he has won the Nobel Peace Prize will he be afraid to do what he needs to do to win this war, as he won’t want to go against his new found mission to promote peace in the world because of this new award? Are the leaders of the European Union trying to manipulate our president into doing what’s best for them, rather than what’s best for the United States of America?

Is their plan really best for all concerned in the long-term? Is their strategy really worthy? One has to ask this question because in the past we’ve allowed inherently evil men to go a bridge too far to test our resolve. And it has led to dire consequences.

Sometimes the greatest thinkers of the world have a limited view, and need to be reminded of their own history. I believe this is one of those times, and if we fail to root out the bad guys, we will be sorry later.

Is our young president up for the task, or will he just “vote present” once again trying to keep everyone happy, yet failing to make a decision to do what must be done? At this point, it is my personal and professional opinion that President Barack Obama is the wrong person, for the wrong job, at the wrong time, and we are all going to pay for his mistakes for decades to come.

In fact, I believe he should be removed from office immediately, and he is welcome to take his Nobel Peace Prize with him, they aren’t worth anything anymore anyway, except to Al Gore.

Sarah Palin Going Rogue, Read it on the New Kindle 2.0

Sarah Palin grew to immediate popularity during the 2008 US presidential elections when she became the GOP running mate of John McCain. Better known in Alaska as the Governor of the state she bought many reforms during her time of power.

Many people in the US had never heard of her, let alone internationally. But her rise to popularity came during a speech at the Republican National convention. The Republican party were desperate to get votes swinging back their way as Barack Obama and the Democrats were sweeping the nation with the historic “change rhetoric”.

Many political writers admitted it was a big gamble to call up Sarah Palin as a vice presidential candidate but the Republicans thought it would show an intent of change and turn the tide of voting to them. And it did, just 5 months prior to the elections the Republican party were leading in most of the polls across the US. With Palin’s background as a main street American woman, a wife of a blue collar union partner, a mother of five children of whom one was actively serving in Iraq and the youngest an infant with specialist needs began to touch the American voters psyche.

Sarah Palin was becoming an American sweetheart and the popularity of the Republican party increasing, until she pressed the self destruct button.

Nearing the presidential elections, she decided to separate herself more from the McCain camp. But why? Many rumours began surfacing that Palin had her own agendas. People from the Republican party starting using words like “diva” and “rogue” to describe her. When John McCain decided not to include Sarah Palin on strategic decision making, it was clear they were headed in different directions.

Her infamous mistake came when she was interviewed by a CBS channel anchor host. The interview made Palin sound like a complete inexperienced, unfit and ignorant person to take any leadership role.

From being popular for the right reasons, she now faced criticism and mockery. The Saturday night live comedy show portrayed her as a complete joke and someone who could never be seriously taken as a vice presidential candidate. And so the Democrats became elected and Barack Obama the president.

But here are a few things to consider. Palin was very close to becoming the vice president of the US. In her new book ‘Sarah Palin Going Rogue’ she talks straight out and reveals her feelings about her journey during the presidential race and beyond. Could there be a chance of her running for office in future? Anything is possible, right?

Find out the real Sarah Palin story in her own words. What really happened during the presidential elections? Why was her interview with the CBS host Catie Courric a disaster? Was she set up?

Read the e-book on the new Kindle 2.0 and find out her story. To find Kindle deals be sure to visit http://purchasekindle.info/

Where Democrats Went Wrong on Health Insurance Reform

Whatever your views of the health insurance industry and the current debate in Washington concerning whether or not to reform it, it is impossible to ignore the train wreck that is the Democrats attempt at messaging. During my time working on President Obama’s 2008 campaign, I often found comfort in the inability of Hillary Clinton and John McCain to establish a positive, consistent, succinct theme to counter our message of “Hope” and “Change”. The Clinton campaign constantly interchanged campaign themes, leaving people less likely to become excited about the campaign, and even less likely to know what a Clinton victory would even mean. Hillary was initially promoted as the inevitable nominee, the Hillary’s experience was contrasted with that of candidate Obama, then her campaign moved on to her role in Bill Clinton’s White House, a greater likelihood of winning a general election, and finally resulting to mocking the Obama campaign’s very successful “Change” theme (note to politicians: attacking something popular usually does not pan out very well). The McCain campaign was even worse at successful messaging. First we were introduced to the “Maverick,” then we had the experienced “safe bet,” after which we had the war hero with “Country First,” and finally we were handed Sarah Palin. So, in respect to the health insurance reform legislation currently being hammered out in the legislative branch, what happened to the Obama camp’s ability to frame the discussion in favorable terms? Simple: governing.

Now that the weight of the free world is on the shoulders of the President and his inner circle (operating at 50% capacity due to slow Senate confirmations) their focus has inevitably been divided amongst many issues, particularly Afghanistan. That is where the Democratic caucus in the House and Senate, as well as the countless political advisers working with the DNC came into the picture, kind of.

The debate over reforming health insurance has gone everywhere from compassion for your fellow man to death panels. The fact is, to build something, in this case health insurance reform; you need to do so over time and with a coherent plan. To destroy something, in this case blocking health insurance reform, you need only throw punches and wait for a knockout or stall for the final bell. The Republicans and insurance corporations have been throwing plenty of punches at reform. We have seen Democrats put forth themes covering compassion, humanity, financial benefits, saving lives, better care, and trust busting, to name a few. Within those themes are the only two winners for something of this size, money and death.

From the beginning Democrats should have chosen one, or designed a way to link the two issues, and never strayed during the coming debate. Easier said than done obviously, but impossible without the selection of a winnable theme. Anyone who has followed this debate knows that real reform, such as a strong public option, will save both money and lives.

The resources available to the left are more than sufficient to make the case to the American people. It is a hard pill to swallow for idealists on the left who think that insuring all Americans is our duty (which it is), is not enough of an incentive in Washington and on Main Street to win enough support for health insurance reform. The bottom line is that if it does not put money in our pocket, or save us from imminent danger we don’t jump on board with the intensity needed to topple the current fiasco that is the health insurance industry. I am not talking about fear mongering, but actually facts that are, admittedly, scary. Democrats did not need to wait until mid-September, and did not need to hear from researchers at Harvard, to know that people are dying as a direct result of the inadequacies of our current health care system. Hopefully, it is not too late for Democrats to change that truth; truth 45,000 American families learn every year.
